Kansas City chamber dinner will feature ‘Shark Tank’ star
One of the nation’s most visible entrepreneurs, Daymond John, will be the featured presenter Nov. 25 at the annual dinner of the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce.
The appearance by John, founder and chief executive of FUBU, a clothing company that has reached $4 billion in retail sales, was announced Thursday. John is a regular panelist on “Shark Tank,” an ABC business reality show. Read more: Kansas City Star

Michigan Chamber: Job Providers Win Big on Primary Election Day!

Former Broken Arrow chamber leader Mickey Thompson dies

Mickey Thompson, who helped economic development in Broken Arrow for years as Chamber President and Chief Executive Officer, died Wednesday after a short battle with cancer, it was announced on Thursday.
Funeral arrangements are pending for the Broken Arrow resident. Thompson stepped down from his Chamber post in July 2010. Wes Smithwick was hired as his replacement. Read more: BALedger.com


Chamber planning: Survey seeks views on Joplin’s future goals


Residents are being asked to fill out a survey on priorities for Joplin’s future. The effort was inspired by a meeting of community leaders last month.

Survey forms are available at the Joplin Public Library and online at www.surveymonkey.com/s/jointjoplinareaplanningsurvey.

The Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce was the host for a daylong “visioning” meeting on July 9 with representatives of the chamber, the city of Joplin, the Joplin School District, Missouri Southern State University and the Citizens Advisory Recovery Team.

Rob O’Brian, president of the chamber, said it was the first time representatives of all of those entities held that type of meeting together. Read more: Joplin Globe


Chamber Event: Beer garden comes to NIBROC

NIBROC will see its first beer garden in Sanders Park. Southern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Bruce Carpenter said the chamber applied for a special event license early Monday. State approval came Tuesday, and city approval followed shortly thereafter.

USET to develop new resource to help American Indian entrepreneurs

A new resource for tribal businesses and American Indian entrepreneurs available to support business growth, training, and technical assistance is now located at the USET headquarters in Nashville, Tenn.  The Minnesota American Indian Chamber of Commerce (MAICC) and the Native Diversification Network – Procurement Technical Assistance Center (NDN – PTAC) have received federal funding to operate a PTAC at the USET Nashville headquarters for the next three years. Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce announces new membership promotion

The Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce announces “The Power of Now,” a membership recruitment campaign which began Monday, July 28 and extends through the month of September. The promotion rewards new members by applying 10 percent of their dues to be used as credit towards advertising and events. Moultrie News
