Chicago Firm Plans To Triple Its Indiana Employment

Cheetah Digital, an independent, enterprise cross-channel marketing software company, announced plans to continue expanding its Indianapolis operations, with plans to triple its employment here and create up to 100 new, high-wage jobs by 2021.
“Central Indiana continues to develop its reputation of housing a growing tech community, enabling us to attract new business from around the globe,” Governor Eric J. Holcomb said. “Through our commitment to attracting and building a skilled workforce, we will continue fostering innovation through opportunities with growing companies like Cheetah Digital. We are confident they will keep thriving in Indiana’s tech community and business-friendly environment.”
The company, which is headquartered in Chicago, opened its Indianapolis office just last year and is slated to invest more than $2 million in its Monument Circle facility over the next five years. Cheetah Digital occupies approximately 16,000 square feet at the Guaranty Building downtown, and plans to further renovate and expand the space as it hires more employees to scale with the business growth.
“The Indianapolis tech community continues to grow, making it an ideal place for us to find strong enterprise tech talent,” said Todd Richardson, chief administration officer at Cheetah Digital. “We’re excited to continue building out our Product organization here, and are taking advantage of some of the strong associations in the city, such as Indy Women in Tech.”
Cheetah Digital, which has already grown its Indiana-based team to 50 full-time associates, plans to continue hiring sales professionals, customer support managers, software engineers and other technical staff.
“There’s a reason why Governing Magazine refers to Indianapolis as the Silicon Valley of the Midwest,” said Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett. “Companies like Cheetah Digital see the value of our growing talent pipeline for key industry sectors like marketing tech. We’re excited for Cheetah Digital as they expand downtown Indy’s tech ecosystem and further solidify our status as a global leader in innovation and opportunity.”
Cheetah Digital was established in June 2017 after divesting from Ireland-based Experian. The company helps marketers around the world build meaningful customer relationships and create profitable brand outcomes through cross-channel marketing technology and services. Cheetah Digital has approximately 1,500 employees in 20+ offices around the world, serving more than 3,000 clients, which are primarily in the retail, travel and hospitality, and finance industries.
The Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) offered Cheetah Digital up to $2.4 million in conditional tax credits and up to $100,000 in training grants based on the company’s job creation plans. These incentives are performance-based, meaning until Hoosiers are hired, the company is not eligible to claim incentives. In addition to state offerings, the city of Indianapolis has approved up to $100,000 in performance-based training grants upon the recommendation of Develop Indy, a business unit of the Indy Chamber. This training grant will accompany workforce, permitting, and regulatory assistance from EmployIndy and the Indy Chamber. Building Indiana

Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce unveil new logo

The Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce unveiled their new logo at their headquarters Wednesday morning.
The new logo represents the famous BG acronym following arrows of the nationally known South Central Kentucky logo in blue and gray.
President and CEO, Ronald Bunch, says "the Chamber has received state and national attention for its chamber operations, economic development efforts and SCK LAUNCH initiative and needed to bring the logos of the three facets into alignment."
The new logo is said to show the "modern and evolving" Chamber.
"We wanted it to synergize with our other brands. Our South Central Kentucky brand has been out there for quite a number of years, we've invested about a quarter of a million a year marketing that to the world for economic development and we've had great success. Our SCK LAUNCH brand is out there getting some national recognition. So now our Chamber brand really synergizes with our overall brand ," Bunch said.

The new brand can be seen on the website, letterhead and communications. Read more: WBKO.com

Major Funding Approved for MS Transportation; Legislation a Key Step in Addressing Mississippi Infrastructure Needs

The Mississippi Legislature took a big step forward in addressing Mississippi's transportation infrastructure with the passage of two key bills that will put more than $200 million annually into preserving the state's most valuable asset - our infrastructure.
Special thanks to the leadership of Governor Phil Bryant, Lt. Governor Tate Reeves and Speaker Philip Gunn in the passage of the Mississippi Infrastructure Modernization Act and legislation to create a lottery, from which certain funds will be dedicated to transportation. Providing additional transportation funding has been a major priority since the completion of a report by the Blueprint Mississippi Transportation Task Force, chaired by Joe F. Sanderson, Jr. of Sanderson Farms, Inc.
The task force's study underscored the need for focusing on maintenance of roadways and the repair and replacement of bridges at the state and local level.
The MS Modernization Act of 2018 Will:
  • Divert 35% of the 7% use tax for internet and out-of-state sales to local governments and bridge repairs.
  • Divide up the use tax diversion -  15% to cities - 15% to counties - 5% to the Local System Bridge Program
  • Create a new tax on hybrid and electric cars
  • Bond $300 million, with $250 going to the Mississippi Department of Transportation for emergency projects and $50 million to be spent on projects deemed necessary by the legislature
  • Require counties to match the state use tax money dollar for dollar
  • Divert the new casino sports betting tax money toward infrastructure
  • The lottery legislation, which was named the "Alyce G. Clarke Mississippi Lottery Law" after the legislator who has long advocated for a lottery, will dedicate the first $80 million to the State Highway Fund for 10 years. The money is to be used with matching federal funds when available.
Any lottery revenue collected above the $80 million, will go into the Education Enhancement Fund for the Early Childhood Learning Collaborative, the Classroom Supply Fund and/or other educational purposes.
It is expected to take a year to 18 months to set up the lottery in Mississippi. The legislation also prohibited video lottery terminals, a long-standing position of MEC.
Vibrant, dependable infrastructure is critical for maintaining public safety and promoting healthy economic development. Again, we are grateful to Gov. Bryant, Lt. Gov. Reeves, Speaker Gunn and our legislature for making an important investment in Mississippi's future. Source: Mississippi Economic Council

MADISON – Governor Scott Walker today announced the appointment of three new members to the Wisconsin Council on Tourism: A.J. The Council on Tourism is a 21-member board comprised of 14 citizen members who are appointed by the Governor of Wisconsin and serve 3-year terms.
“Tourism in Wisconsin is booming because we have family fun in every corner of the state and because of the great people who work hard to promote our state,” said Governor Walker. “It’s an honor to appoint A.J Frels of Chaseburg, Michelle Martin of Springbrook, and Mary McPhetridge of Washburn to the Council on Tourism. Each of these Wisconsinites bring a unique perspective from a different area of our state. I am sure they will serve Wisconsin well.”

Mecosta County Area Chamber of Commerce Awarded Full Accreditation by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce

Great news! The Mecosta County Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that after a comprehensive self-review, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce has awarded us full Accreditation! This prestigious honor puts us among the top 3% of chambers nationwide!

“Business leaders are a critical voice in conversations about promoting economic growth and job creation in their communities,” said Raymond P. Towle, IOM, CAE, U.S. Chamber vice president of Federation Relations and Institute for Organization Management. “Accreditation honors a chamber’s work to enhance the quality of life for its members and its region.”

Accreditation is the only national program that recognizes chambers for their effective organizational procedures and community involvement. In order to receive Accreditation, a chamber must meet minimum standards in their operations and programs, including areas of governance, government affairs, and technology. This extensive self-review can take 6-9 months to complete.

Chamber director, Jennifer Heinzman, said “Since we are in the top 3 Chambers in the State of Michigan again this year, the Michigan Chamber strongly encouraged us to vie for this distinction and offered to pay half of our application fee. This process was a lot of work but it gave us a chance to take a good, hard, look at ourselves and develop policies that may not have been as relevant in the past. As part of this process, we have developed an emergency evacuation plan, a style guide for marketing, a long-term benchmarking plan, a communication and marketing plan, a community crises plan, revised Board orientation packets, a legislative policy agenda, updated staff performance review materials, and an environmental scan, to name a few. We are very proud to earn this distinction and to continue advancing our Chamber for the betterment of our members!”

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world’s largest business federation representing the interests of more than 3 million businesses of all sizes, sectors, and regions, as well as state and local chambers and industry associations. The only national program recognizing chambers for their effective organizational procedures and community involvement, Accreditation allows us to renew, improve, and promote sound business practices, policies, and procedures.
