WMC’s Chris Reader Promoted to Senior Director

Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (WMC) announced on Thursday that Chris Reader has been promoted to Senior Director of Workforce & Employment Policy.
Reader joined WMC in 2013 as Director of Health & Human Resources Policy. His issue areas include employment law, unemployment insurance, worker’s compensation, education, workforce development, health care and telecommunications. Prior to his time with WMC, Reader served as a chief of staff in the State Senate and held other roles in state government.
“Chris is a valuable member of WMC’s government relations team,” said Scott Manley, WMC Executive Vice President of Government Relations. “As our members struggle with a growing workforce shortage and rising health care costs, we are enthusiastic about Chris’ ability to be their voice at the State Capitol.”
According to WMC’s most recent survey of member CEOs, workforce and health care costs continue to be the top two concerns facing Wisconsin businesses. In his new role, Reader will make both issues a top focus in 2020.
“Our members want to grow in this state, but a lack of available labor and high health care costs are an impediment,” added Reader. “I look forward to continuing my work on behalf of Wisconsin’s employers to grow our talent pool and rein in the costs of worker’s compensation and other health care expenses.”
Reader earned a degree in political science and public administration from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and lives near Beaver Dam with his wife and children.
