Primary Responsibilities
The Executive Director will oversee and provide direction for the Jefferson Chamber of Commerce in the following areas:
  • Implement and execute short and long range plans and programs initiated by Jefferson Chamber of Commerce.
  • Meet and recruit new businesses.
  • Maintain daily and monthly financials in Quickbooks. Manage payroll and reporting.
  • Prepare monthly agenda, financial reports, organize and facilitate board meetings.
  • Prepare and monitor annual budget. Manage monthly payables and receivables.
  • Maintain and/or accuracy of membership data & information in the office.
  • Respond to member requests for information and support.
  • Schedule new member photo and welcome new businesses.
  • Oversee duties and responsibilities of Administrative Assistant.
  • Engage with members to continually support their business challenges.
  • Attend/ Coordinate all special events and meetings. Some nights and weekends are required.
Qualifications
  • Strong organizational abilities including strategic planning, event planning and program development.
  • Demonstrated experience in budgeting including preparation, analysis, decision- making and reporting.
  • Marketing, public relations and fundraising experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Skills in collaboration and motivation of board members, volunteers and donor groups.
  • Demonstrated commitment to high ethical standards, personal performance and accountability.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to meet the needs of the organization and travel to various locations throughout Jefferson County.
  • Working knowledge of computer programs including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Publisher), WordPress, Constant Contact, Chamber Master and QuickBooks is preferred.
  • Experience with filing monthly 941 and quarterly tax reports for Federal and State is preferred.
  • An Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field such as business, public relations, sales or marketing is preferred or equivalent experience.

Executive Director

Highland County Chamber of Commerce - Monterey, VA


The Highland County Chamber of Commerce is seeking a motivated, self-starting, highly-organized, professional to fill the role of Executive Director of the Highland County Chamber of Commerce. The Executive Director will be responsible for the overall organization and “big picture vision” of the Highland County Chamber of Commerce.
This is an expected part-time position; however an ideal candidate can be considered for full-time. Ideal candidate will be responsible for the tasks outlined below and tasks outlined in the attached detailed list of job responsibilities for the Executive Director as well as possess the desired qualifications, which are also outlined below:
General responsibilities will include:
  • Manage budget and finances

The Highland County Chamber of Commerce has been overhauling our internal structure for the past few years. Manager of Member Engagement

Reporting to the Sr.Vice President of Membership, the Manager of Member Engagement is responsible for generating new memberships for the Chamber. He/she is expected to initiate telephone calls and meetings to prospect companies in the six-county region and be able to sell memberships in the Chamber.
The Membership sales manager must have the ability to cold call, qualify profile prospects and close the sale. The ability to listen, uncover the needs of a prospect and communicate how the Chamber can help meet these needs are critical elements of the position. The Chamber offers memberships to small, medium and large corporations and the sales manager is expected to respond to the needs of each size and style of company.
You will also work with other members of the Membership Department in developing and executing campaigns, and you will be expected to achieve monthly sales goals, while also striving to enhance the overall member experience and grow the membership in terms of count and dollars to fulfil the Chamber’s first priority in its Strategic Plan.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Make calls to and set appointments with prospective members. This includes cold calls, prospecting, follow-up calls, meetings and/or memos
  • Qualify leads by obtaining information about the contact and extracting information about the business problems to be solved. Probe beyond the surface level to get extensive detail about the prospect’s motivations and business process while responding to their requests for information
  • Attend events in the region where appropriate to cultivate membership
  • Prepare sales proposals for prospects which present a menu of opportunity for the company in selecting the appropriate level of involvement with the Chamber
  • Have a working knowledge of all Chamber initiatives, programs and activities
  • Aggressively prospect for companies, especially mid-market, and present a compelling reason for them to join
  • Process completed applications and payments in accordance with Chamber process
  • Offer suggestions and feedback on areas of improvement or new ideas in the sales process
  • Work with members and the Chamber to ensure any member concerns are promptly, accurately and efficiently addressed
  • Aggressively manage competing responsibilities to maximize time available, time to make calls and complete other duties
  • Design and maintain data collection forms and objective, quantified reports of business problems, Chamber solutions, motivations, business processes, request outcomes, promotion reactions and suggestions. Review reports with management and sales staff monthly
  • Provide Sr. VP of Membership with scheduled, periodic reports on activities and any insights gained about these strategic members as needed
  • Document all client contact and contacts so as to create a lasting record of outreach to the members
  • Perform other tasks as assigned in accordance with the team concept.
  • Assist in communication to members regarding event attendance and retention
  • Connect with current and new members to determine their interest in forum participation/awareness

Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor’s Degree is required
  • Valid driver’s license is required
  • Minimum of 2 - 5 years of experience in member relations and sales experience

  • Must become fluent in the Chamber’s CRM database system

Business Services Manager

BUSINESS SERVICES MANAGER
The Business Services Manager is responsible for securing membership for the Lakeview East Chamber of Commerce increasing member retention, maintaining databases and event coordination. The Business Services Manager will develop and execute strategic plans for member recruitment and retention and customize events for local businesses.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
  • Increase and retain membership base for Lake View East Chamber of Commerce (on site visits, mailings, phone calls, media and website outreach, etc.).
  • Increase participation and keep records updated for all appropriate categories in the database
  • Maintain and update member databases and assists with website and social media content

Learning Guide



The Learning Guide will work directly with after school students providing support with day school and after school lessons and homework.
