The Hill reports, “Powerful business groups are urging House lawmakers to pass a Republican tax package, which is expected to get a floor vote on Thursday. The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) and U.S. Chamber of Commerce are among groups that say they will be considering the tax-reform legislation a "key vote," which will be included in the annual scorecards on how lawmakers stand on major bills.”
Crossroads Regional Chamber of Commerce Recognizes Small Businesses by Celebrating Small Business Saturday® on November 25th
The Crossroads Regional Chamber of Commerce announced its participation in Small Business Saturday® on November 25th to show its support of small businesses throughout the Region. Founded by American Express® in 2010, Small Business Saturday® is a day to celebrate the local businesses and entrepreneurs that drive support for their communities. #BestChamber practices: Clarkston Area Chamber: Non Profit of the Month!
SCAMP is a very small nonprofit! Most people don’t realize that the actual camp is separate from my job as the fundraiser for N. Oakland SCAMP Funding Corporation. The organization was started by a small seed group and much determination over 40 years ago in the Wint Funeral Home of all places! Because the camp only employs its staff for the 5 week period, a separate organization was developed to fund the camp. The idea was simple: Give kids with special needs and disabilities a chance to have a fun summer just like the other kids.
40 years later , we haven’t changed much. We still serve over 220 SCAMPers a summer in northern Oakland County and have never turned anyone away for financial reasons. The only things that have changed over the years are the increased cost for the camp activities and the increased cost of raising a child/adult with disabilities.
Here are the statistics: 46% of the SCAMPers are from Clarkston and of those, 40% require financial aid. The other 54% of SCAMPers come from other cities and of those 53% require aid, which brings me to the other great thing about SCAMP—we employ over 125 volunteers, aides and teachers every year. Many of the kids who work at SCAMP go on to pursue careers within the special needs community. It is as much of a boost for the employees as it is for the campers.

Driverless car lanes among options studied for Foxconn plant
As regional leaders prepare for challenges that will result from the massive Foxconn plant in southeastern Wisconsin, the possibility of driverless vehicles is being studied as one way to deal with traffic issues.
State highway planners are studying the possibility of including special lanes for driverless vehicles on Interstate 94, said Tim Sheehy, president of the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce.
There currently aren't highway lanes dedicated to autonomous vehicles, according to a U.S. Department of Transportation spokesman.
State money has been earmarked to widen I-94 to eight lanes and improve local roads as Foxconn develops a $10 billion flat-screen manufacturing plant in Mount Pleasant, about 25 miles (40 kilometers) south of Milwaukee, The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported . The facility could employ between 3,000 and 13,000 people, according to the Taiwan-based company. Read more: Merced Sun Star
