Chamber collaboration: Feed Your Inner Foodie During Northern Virginia Restaurant Week: March 20-27, 2017

In Partnership with the Virginia Restaurant, Lodging & Travel Association

Manassas, VA – Foodies rejoice! For the second year in a row, four of Northern Virginia’s top business organizations -- the Prince William, Greater Reston, Loudoun County and Arlington Chambers of Commerce -- are collaborating to produce Northern Virginia Restaurant Week, March 20-27, 2017. The Virginia Restaurant, Lodging and Travel Association (VRLTA) once again joins them as a partner, making it one of the largest dining out celebrations in the state. The goal of this event is to draw attention to Northern Virginia’s vibrant hospitality industry, encouraging residents and workers to explore new dining options close to home or work.

“Northern Virginia Restaurant Week is a week-long, dining experience taking place at a variety of establishments from fine dining to fast casual. That means that everyone can take part. Speaking on behalf of the Chamber, it’s our privilege to shine the spotlight on the vibrant local hospitality industry. Speaking as a resident of Northern Virginia, I am looking forward to exploring new dining options throughout the region. This is fast becoming one of my favorite weeks of the year!” says Prince William Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Debbie Jones.

In 2016, more than 60 restaurants participated with special menus and pricing at both lunch and dinner. This year over 40 have signed up to date with more added to the website daily. Participating restaurants can be found at novarestaurantweek.com/menus. Interested local gourmands are encouraged to visit NOVARestaurantWeek.com and/or to follow Northern Virginia Restaurant Week on Facebook

The Northern Virginia Restaurant Week partnership is once again working with OpenTable.com to provide consumers a chance to make stress-free reservations. Restaurants who are already on Open Table will be featured on a special NOVA Restaurant Week page, making it simple for consumers to find convenient options throughout the seven-day event. During the week of March 20-27, consumers are encouraged to use #NOVARestaurantWeek when dining at participating restaurants.

Registrations will be accepted until the beginning of Restaurant Week. Signature Sponsors are Upper Crust Pizzeria-DC Metro, One Loudoun, Reston Town Center and Potomac Mills. Platinum Sponsors include Arlington Convention & Visitors Bureau; Bistro 360; Historic Manassas, Inc.; Rosslyn Business Improvement District; Discover Prince William & Manassas and Sushi-Zen. The address serves as an inspiring recap of the year’s events.  The discussion will highlight the monumental progression of the area’s growth including new and existing businesses.  Additionally, the address will turn an eye towards the future, as we will learn about a number of programs and initiatives scheduled for the coming year.  The NACC has hosted the State of the City Address for the past 33 years for the Naperville community starting with Mayor Peg Price.

“The Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce plays an important role in success and retention of businesses in our region,” said Nicki Anderson, NACC President/CEO.  “Our partnership with the City and Naperville Development Partnership are crucial to the strength and viability of a successful business climate.”

The Mayor also uses the program as a time to not only to recognize Naperville’s accomplishments, but also the people who made it possible.  The State of the City Address honors city officials and their years of service to the community.

“The State of the City address is an important venue to showcase the City’s commitment to economic growth, efficient government and serving our community well,” Mayor Steve Chirico said.  “This year’s address will celebrate our shared accomplishments, provide a roadmap for the year to come and inspire our businesses to continue making Naperville the premier location to live, work and play in the region.”

Registration and networking begin at 10:30 a.m. with the program and lunch beginning at 11:00 a.m.  To make a reservation, call the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce at 630.355.4141 or register online at www.naperville.net.  Due to the popularity of this luncheon, early registration is highly recommended.  There will not be walk-in registration available.

Jasper Chamber Bridge Planter Project Accepting Donations & Seeking Volunteers for Patoka 2000

Patoka 2000, the beautification committee of the Jasper Chamber of Commerce is getting ready to place beautiful summer flowers in the planters along the Patoka River Bridge.

Patoka 2000 works to maintain this area as a beautiful entryway into the City of Jasper. The planters are spruced up with live flowers three times a year and flags are rotated at various times, too. Donations are accepted and received and it is this money that helps maintain these planter urns and the decorative flags on the Patoka River Bridge.

In order to defray the costs of this beautification, Patoka 2000 seeks donations from individuals or businesses throughout the community. You may make a donation in any amount (payable to Patoka 2000) and specify that is in honor of someone, in memory of someone, or as a tribute to a cause. By doing this, you are able to remember that person, while admiring the beautiful bridge each time that you drive or walk across the bridge. Family and friends are encouraged to chip in together for this great beautification project.

By working together we can continue to make Jasper a clean, bright community for those that live here and for those that are just traveling through.

An ad will be placed in the classified section of The Herald around May 9, listing all of those that donated funds and the people that they would like to have honored or remembered.

In addition to the donations, Patoka 2000 is seeking volunteers who could give about one hour each week to help keep the planters watered throughout the summer months. If you can help with watering – or would like more information on how this is done – please contact Nancy Eckerle at the number below.

Donations can be sent directly to Patoka 2000 (deadline is May 1) at the Jasper Chamber of Commerce at P.O. Box 307, Jasper, Indiana 47547-0307. If you have any questions about this project or about the donation, please call the Jasper Chamber of Commerce at 812/482-6866.
