The Oxford-Lafayette County Chamber of Commerce and Cannon Motors of Mississippi will be hosting its 3rd Annual Red Carpet Gala

Oxford, Miss.- (March 10, 2017) on Thursday, May 18, 2017, from 7 to 11 p.m. at Castle Hill Resort.

Creating excitement for this year's event are three fabulous raffles! For the third year in a row Lammons Fine Jewelry will be donating diamonds, this year a 2 Carat Diamond Bracelet!

Our second raffle donated by the family of Karen Preston-Morf is a signed football by legendary Ole Miss Coach Johnny Vaught, the only coach in Ole Miss history to win an SEC football championship.
"The Chamber has helped me with my real estate
business over the years," says Karen Preston-Morf. "By donating the Johnny Vaught football would be a great benefit to the Chambers."

Finally the third raffle donated by The Range at TGC Outdoors consists of a custom AR- 15 rifle designed exclusively in honor of  Archie Manning, who played for the Ole Miss Rebels football and a former American footballquarterback who played professionally for 16 seasons in the National Football League (NFL). Making this rifle even more valuable is Archie Manning's signature on the shaft of the gun. "When we built "The Archie" I knew I wanted to do something special with it," said
Joshua Gregory, owner of TGC Outdoors. "Being that Archie Manning is such a big supporter of Oxford himself I wanted the rifle to somehow give back to the town. The Chamber and Economic Development Foundation felt like the perfect fit for the donation."\

Raffle tickets for each raffle are $20 per ticket, 3 for $50, or 10 for $100. Packages of tickets must all go towards the same individual raffle item.

The winner of each raffle will be drawn on May 18th at the Red Carpet Gala. You do not have to be present to win. All proceeds go to the Chamber to help promote and provide additional resources to the citizens and businesses of the community.

You won't want to miss this anticipated black tie event as tickets are on sale for $75 "two for price of one," now through March 15th. The public is welcomed to attend.

One of the most popular Memphis bands ever to hit the party scene, Dr. Zarr's Amazing Funk Monster will be the entertainment for the evening. There's no way you'll be able to resist the dance floor! In addition, the fabulous Chef Shuffle, offering delicious tastings will feature Oxford-Lafayette County restaurants and chefs.

Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce Speaker Series to Feature Doug Lipp. Eight-Time Author and Former Head of Training at Disney University

The Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce (NACC) has announced that it will be hosting its third annual Speaker Series on Thursday, April 27, 2017. This year’s keynote speaker will be Doug Lipp, distinguished international consultant, eight-time author and former head of training at the legendary Disney University. The presentation will take place from 7:30 – 9:15 a.m. at the Community Christian Church – Yellow Box, 1635 Emerson Lane in Naperville.

Doug Lipp is on a crusade to help organizations strengthen their corporate culture, boost performance, amplify employee morale, and unapologetically, have fun while doing it.  Trailblazing new territory at age 29, Doug was fast-tracked into management at Disney and instrumental at propelling its iconic culture forward.

“The NACC is committed to delivering quality content to our Members. As we host our third Speaker Series, we continue our focus on quality presentations for our Members and the community,” said Nicki Anderson, President and CEO of the NACC.  “We’re really looking forward to Mr. Lipp’s presentation. With his extensive background, we’re certain that he’ll provide our Members with the information they need to take their business to the next level.”

Disney stands the test of time as the ultimate icon of applied imagination.  How did Walt Disney create “The Happiest Place on Earth?”  Leaders build the culture, live the culture and reinforce the culture every single day.  During this animated and high energy program, Lipp will explain how Disney continues to capture and inspire the hearts and minds of thousands of employees around the globe through an unwavering devotion to the core values established by Walt himself.

The presentation will be followed by a book signing from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. and a workshop with Doug from 10:30 a.m. to noon where VIPs can take a deeper look at the makeup of their own company culture.  To register, call the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce at 630.355.4141 or online at www.naperville.net.  Contact: Lauren Holtz lholtz@naperville.net 630.355.4141

Great Success at the Greater Williamsburg Chamber and Tourism Alliance Career Fair

Williamsburg, VA – The Alliance hosted the annual Williamsburg Area Career Fair on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at the Fort Magruder Hotel & Conference Center. Career seekers poured in giving this year great attendance. Many people took advantage of the resume and interview clinics throughout the day, and were able to apply to jobs on-site with laptops provided by Thomas Nelson Community College. New to this year were the continuing education booths to help those interested in learning new skills or returning to school. The Alliance was very pleased with the positive feedback from those utilizing the clinics and will plan to continue them for the next Career Fair. GWCTA would like to give a special “thank you” to Mr. Gary Plaag of Couragio Consulting, LLC, the guest Career Speaker, for his informative seminar on “Lessons from the Successful Job-Seeker’s Playbook” which was highly praised by those that attended. The exhibitors were very pleased with the turnout as well. Many exhibitors did same day interviews with the participants. Best of all, we were informed that career seekers left the fair with a job offer that day! Contact: Kayla Kearse 757.253.2310

Frankfort Area Chamber of Commerce targets high school graduation rates in ‘Work Ready’ push

Franklin County high schools are at the bottom of their class when it comes to graduation rates and local business leaders are taking note. The Frankfort Area Chamber of Commerce offered its assistance to Franklin County Public Schools during their district board meeting on Monday.

The relatively low number of Franklin County students receiving high school diplomas within five years is preventing the county from receiving “Work Ready” certification by the Kentucky Workforce Innovation Board, explained Jim Clouse, the Chamber’s education committee co-chair.

The Chamber of Commerce has been seeking Work Ready status for Franklin County since 2012. The designation is meant to help counties attract employers by showcasing the quality of their labor force. High school graduation rates — in particular, a high “five-year adjusted cohort graduation rate” or the number of students who graduate in five years with a regular high school diploma divided by the number who entered high school five years earlier, adjusting for transfers — are essential to receiving Work Ready certification.
