WMC COVID-19 Webinar - Gov. Evers
to Address Business Community: WMC, its trade association
partners and local chambers invite you to a business coalition update call with
Gov. Tony Evers and members of his cabinet. The call will detail state
government's response to the COVID-19 pandemic and update you on how the business
community is impacted. This call is open to all members of the business
community. (2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 18)

COVID-19 and Your Business
Join us at 8 a.m. on Thursday, March 19 as we live stream an important program with Joan Theurer, RN, MSN, Health Officer at the Marathon County Health Department. Joan will share information on the Coronavirus and how businesses should operate during this time. This program will include a question and answer portion. Questions should be sent to marketing manager Brian Otten or sent by text to 715-370-0115. This program will be recorded.
The Greater Wausau Chamber of Commerce fills a unique role as an organization in our community. The Chamber serves as the connecting piece between businesses of all types, government entities, educational institutions and the not-for-profit sector. These connections will be tested in the coming weeks due to the necessary measures which have been put into place, and those which will follow, to prevent the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) across our country.
We are actively
monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic and continuously evaluating options for all of
our upcoming programs and events. Our primary concern is for the safety of our
members and the community.
With that in mind, the Chamber has postponed the Future in Focus program scheduled for Tuesday, March 17 and we are evaluating next month’s Small Business Week events, including the Business EXPO. Should additional Chamber events be canceled or postponed, all registrants will be notified directly as well as via our website, our social media channels and email.
Joan Theurer, the Director of the Marathon County Health Department, has pulled together a guide for preparing your workplace for COVID-19. In the guide, Joan shares ‘While a person’s chances of getting sick from coronavirus in Wisconsin are low right now, we are asking people to take time now to prepare for widespread illness in the future.
The team at the Greater Wausau Chamber of Commerce is poised to assist our members and others in the community to help soften the blow that will impact our community and families. The Chamber is not an expert in this health crisis, but we are able to uniquely connect, coordinate and convey critical information to the business community and our partners in an effort to inform and guide. Because this virus knows no geographic boundaries, our office is reaching out to our chamber peers in Merrill, Stevens Point, Marshfield and Wisconsin Rapids to explore ways in which we can support each other.

Cedarburg Chamber of Commerce Update
Dear chamber members,
Unfortunately, like many of you, the Cedarburg Visitor Center
and Cedarburg History Museum have decided to close through at least March 31.
We are sad to make this decision, but feel it's best for both our staff and
possible visitors during this time. Please watch for updates as to when the
Visitor Center and History Museum will re-open. We continue to fulfill visitor
information mailings to ensure Cedarburg is still a top travel destination in
Wisconsin.
Lynn, Patrick, and I have been hard at work compiling a comprehensive list of
Cedarburg businesses that have faced changes due to COVID-19. The lists, which are
separated between bars/restaurants and retail/hospitality/attractions, have been shared on
Facebook and added to cedarburg.org. If you would like
something added or changed, please let me know. The intent of these lists is to
create a place for patrons to find info about Cedarburg businesses all in one
place without having to research everywhere.

U.S. Bank has sent along information on opening an e-commerce site or adding online ordering here. Local
option ShopMainStreetOnline is still available
to chamber members and is a great way to start selling your merchandise online
and benefit other local businesses at the same time.
The chamber staff is still working - sometimes from home,
sometimes in the office - but we are here to help you and be a resource for

Given the latest recommendations from the World
Health Organization,
the Portage County Business Council will be postponing our events, meetings,
and activities through April 30. The full list of events is below. We will
continue to assess events taking place in May and beyond. Our communities'
health is the top priority.
At this time, the Portage County Business Council office remains
open and staff are here to help. Portage County Gift Certificates can be
purchased Monday-Friday between the hours of 8AM and 4:30PM.
Our local business community needs your support right now more
than ever. As we navigate this uncertainty it is important that individuals and
organizations continue to support each other. Within the parameters of the
health restrictions, please encourage fellow community members to support local
businesses. For example, shop locally online, order carryout, or call ahead for
other buying options.
In these challenging times, social media and websites can be a
valuable resource. We encourage businesses to share best practices, ideas, and
help available to support one another.

Discover New Berlin & Kid"S Fest Scheduled For March 21, Has Been Postponed
After consulting with Healthcare Professionals, and our partners at the School District of New Berlin, we have made the decision to POSTPONE Discover New Berlin in the interest of everyone’s health and safety.
We fully intend to reschedule to a date later this year
after the current situation has subsided. We will work with school officials on
identifying a workable date later in the year. Additional details will be
shared as they become available. Discover New Berlin has become a valuable
showcase for many businesses and organizations in the city to tell their
stories and promote themselves. Additionally, the public has come to look
forward to this annual event as well. We look forward to continuing this
tradition in 2020.

What is COVID-19?
COVID-19 is the disease caused by a virus
strain that began spreading in people in December 2019.
Health experts are concerned because little
is known about this new respiratory virus, and it can cause severe illness and
pneumonia in some people.
- The COVID-19 virus was first
identified in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China.
- The COVID-19 virus is not the
same as the coronaviruses that commonly circulate among humans and cause
mild illness, like the common cold.
- Formerly, this
disease was referred to as "2019 Novel Coronavirus" or
"2019-nCoV."
