Keith D. Markstrom, named interim president and CEO of Bay Area Chamber of Commerce


Keith D. Markstrom, former director of what is now the McLaren Bay Medical Foundation, has been named interim president and CEO of the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce.
He steps in to fill a spot left vacant following the retirement of Mike Seward, who retired in January after 13 years leading the organization. Markstrom said he expects that within three to six months, chamber officials are likely to have found a long-term replacement.
He said he doesn't plan to apply for the job.
"I have no desire, no intention," he said. "I'm trying to assist the chamber and the community." Read more: M Live 



Washington County Chamber collaboration: Email marketing focus of next Noon Knowledge class



Email marketing will be the focus of next week's Noon Knowledge class.
The classes are offered by the Virginia Highlands Small Business Incubator in collaboration with Virginia Department of Small Business and Supplier Diversity, and Washington County Chamber of Commerce, according to a written statement.
The next class offered in the series is Email Marketing-Mailchimp and will be held on Feb. 11. The class will be presented by Jeremy Bise who is cofounder of the website design and development company, ThoseGeeks. Read more: TriCities.com



Berryville Arkansas hires economic development director and chamber director



Mayor Tim McKinney said former Camden Mayor Chris Claybaker has accepted the position as director of Economic Development for the city of Berryville. He will also serve as executive director of the Berryville Chamber of Commerce.


“I have known Chris for 20 years, have worked closely with him on the Executive Committee of the Arkansas Municipal League, witnessed his close working relationship with the Arkansas Economic Development Commission (AEDC) on many projects in Camden, and have see the things he has accomplished in Camden — much of it through the relationships he has built and in the innovative use of grants,” McKinney said in a statement.
McKinney said he visited with several AEDC representatives at a recent Municipal League meeting.
“They all said we were lucky to have Chris in this position and looked forward to working with us on future projects,” the mayor said. Read more: HarrisonDaily.com

Arlington County (Virginia) and Mitchell Area (South Dakota) chamber interest: Top7 Intelligent Communities of 2015 named by Intelligent Community Forum

New York, New York – January 22, 2015 - The Intelligent Community Forum announced the Top7 Intelligent Communities of 2015 earlier today in an online event hosted by Finland’s former Minister of Communications, Suvi Linden. The Top7 list included cities and towns from 5 different nations, three communities from the United States, one from Australia, one from Brazil, one from Canada, and one from Taiwan.

Mercury Marine chief joins Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce board


Mercury Marine President John Pfeifer was elected to serve on the board of directors of Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce during the business trade group’s recent annual meeting in Milwaukee.
Pfeifer joins 20 new and re-elected directors on the 53-member board for the Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce, Wisconsin Manufacturers’ Association and Wisconsin Safety Council. It represents 3,800 employers of all sizes and from every sector of the economy. More: FDLReporter.com

Chamber news: Quad Cities editorial: Say yes to flights that boost Arsenal, jobs, economy




There appears to be a slight hiccup in the quest to bring direct flights to Washington, D.C., from the Quad City International Airport, Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce members learned Monday.
But given how crucial they are to the future of the Rock Island Arsenal and the Quad-Cities and Illinois economies and Illinois Gov.
