Good morning #Chamber World! It's going to be a GREAT day!

America's Top States for Business: CNBC Business rankings by state

For 11 years CNBC has been scoring the states to see how they rank in competitiveness. In our America’s Top States for Business study we reveal key state economic indicators on everything from taxes and regulatory climate to the quality of their workforces. It’s a project that takes months of data analysis. We score all 50 states on more than 60 measures of competitiveness developed with input from a broad and diverse array of business and policy experts, official government sources, the CNBC Global CFO Council, YPO and the states themselves. This year some states were tied. Learn more about our categories and methodology.

North Carolina comes in at No. 5

Texas falls to No. 4

Minnesota finishes No. 3

Georgia snags the No. 2 spot

This year's winner is: WASHINGTON

Washington leads the league in America’s Top States for Business ranking in 2017. The economy grew 3.7% in 2016, nearly two and a half times the national rate. The state boasts the nation’s largest concentration of STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) workers, and follows California in the most patents filed last year. The home of Amazon and Costco, Boeing and Expedia, as well as rising stars like space company Blue Origin, Washington has the old and new economies covered. Of late, the state has been a magnet for investment capital. Washington businesses attracted nearly $1.6 billion in venture capital last year. See the listings for all states: CNBC.com

Kellogg Community College earns Battle Creek Area Chamber Recognition for Employee Wellness Program

Kellogg Community College this spring was honored for the College’s efforts in promoting employee health and wellness with major award nominations at the state and
local levels. In April, KCC was honored as one of three finalists in the Healthy Workplace Award category of the 2017 Governor’s Fitness Awards. In May, the College was recognized as one of three finalists for the Battle Creek Area Chamber of Commerce’s Choose Health Workplace Wellness Award.
The Governor’s Fitness Awards, sponsored by the Michigan Fitness Foundation and the Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness, Health and Sports, recognize individuals and communities for their commitment to becoming healthier. KCC was recognized with other award nominees at a special Legislative Reception in Lansing and Gala Celebration in Detroit in April.
KCC was a finalist in the ‘large’ category of the Healthy Workplace Awards, which includes organizations of 150 to 999 employees. The award is bestowed on organizations with ‘outstanding programs, who help to create best practices for organizations throughout Michigan to replicate,’ according to the Governor’s Council and Michigan Fitness Foundation.
Organizations considered for the award were evaluated using criteria including policies, procedures, resources utilized (physical, financial, incentives, etc.), executive leadership involvement, culture, evaluation and results and influence on family/community.
The Choose Health Workplace Wellness Award is one of several honors awarded each year as part of the Chamber’s Annual Business Excellence Awards, which ’recognize the achievements of successful local businesses, nonprofits, organizations and industry professionals in the greater Battle Creek area for the contributions they make to the growth and prosperity of the
local economy,′ according to the Chamber. KCC was recognized with other award nominees during an awards ceremony held at the College’s Binda Performing Arts Center on campus in Battle Creek in May.

KCC Athletic Director Tom Shaw, chair of the KCC Employee Wellness Committee, said the College is honored to be recognized at both the state and local levels for its significant investment in the health and wellness of its employees. Read more: The Daily Reporter
