By Aspire Economic Development + Chamber Alliance | | 3.17.20
Like you, we have been closely monitoring the COVID-19 (coronavirus) situation and the latest guidance on how to best respond. As you have seen, the situation is evolving quickly as our federal, state and local health leaders act swiftly to mitigate its impact.
We want you to know the health and safety of our staff and member investors are extremely important to us. Below are some important resources and operations updates.
Aspire Offices
During these unsettling times, we remain committed to leading our area’s business community. Our Greenwood office continues to be open for business. We want to assure you all member investor services will continue at the same high level of support.
Within the office, we have increased the intensity and frequency of our cleaning routines, with a special focus on public surfaces. The safety and well-being of our staff, member investors and visitors is our top priority. As a result, we are also discontinuing shaking hands and other direct contacts with one another. We do also ask individuals who are feeling sick – no matter how minor the symptom – to stay home or meet with us virtually.
Originally planned for this week, the opening of our Franklin office and Festival County Indiana Visitor Center will be postponed until April (date TBA).
Aspire Programs
Out of an abundance of caution and to help slow the spread of the coronavirus, all Aspire programs and group meetings through April 30 will be conducted virtually or postponed.
Registered attendees will be informed of their event changes, and the online events calendar will be updated with the latest information. Registration remains OPEN for all virtual events, and we invite you to join us!

Indiana #BestChamber Practices; Duneland Chamber: Gather
Information, Discuss, Act and Communicate
The Duneland Chamber has been closely following updates from
Governor Eric Holcomb and the Indiana State Department of Health regarding the
spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Indiana, as we are gearing up to have
not one … but two large events for the community this week.
Governor Holcomb announced additional steps the state will take to
reduce the spread of COVID-19 in Indiana that affect public gatherings.
“This is a time when we must do all we can to reduce the spread of
COVID-19, protect our most vulnerable populations and reduce their potential to
acquire or spread this virus,” said Gov. Holcomb. “While some actions are
drastic, now, not later, is the time to act.”
Here are the actions Gov. Holcomb is initiating today that affects
our decision to postpone Corkscrew & Brew as well as the Reality Check:
· Non-essential gatherings must be limited to no more than 250
people. This includes any event or gathering of people who are in one room or a
single space at the same time. This guidance applies to professional, social,
community and similar other gatherings. Detailed guidance will be posted on the
Indiana State Department of Health website by the end of the day.
· Individuals over 60 years of age or those with a known
underlying health issue such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes or chronic
respiratory disease should limit their public exposure.
· Encourage businesses to utilize telework policies, if available
More information may be found at the ISDH website at https://on.in.gov/COVID19 and
the CDC website at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html.
Corkscrew & Brew is rescheduled for Saturday, June 20 from
4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Click here for tickets!

Maura Durham, Duneland Chamber President

We wanted to send a quick note provided by the Indiana Economic
Development Corporation (IEDC) related to COVID-19 to Indiana small businesses
that have or anticipate being impacted by the pandemic and the related
closures. The Administration has allocated $50 billion to the Small Business
Administration (SBA) for Economic Injury Disaster Loans. For Hoosiers to gain
access to this funding, we need to collect small business economic impact data
from every county in Indiana so that Governor Holcomb can declare an economic
injury disaster.
The IEDC is working diligently to gain access to this funding and
would greatly appreciate your help. If you know of an entrepreneur or small
business that has been or anticipated being impacted by the coronavirus, please
ask them to complete this form HERE. Information obtained from
this form will only be used to assist in requesting an economic injury disaster
declaration from SBA and identifying greatest areas of need. Once a disaster
declaration is made for designated areas within Indiana, information on the
application process for Economic Injury Disaster Loan assistance will be
updated at www.SBA.gov/disaster.
