KC Chamber dinner brings out local business stars

At an event that brings out Kansas City business luminaries year in and year out, the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce got an early start on the new year on Tuesday night.
The chamber, which celebrated its 127th anniversary, recognized the work that Chairwoman Roshann Parris, CEO of public relations firm Parris Communications Inc., put in during the year, including the addition of its next "Big 5" initiative— ensuring that every child in the greater Kansas City area is kindergarten-ready. Chamber Award: MSU to be honored for Bio Engineering Facility

Michigan State University is being honored by the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce for construction of the Bio Engineering Facility.
The chamber is honoring MSU for its commitment to economic development, as well as research and development in the biomedical sciences and human health.
Ground was broken in June 2013 for the 130,000-square-foot building. It is expected to open for business in the fall of 2015.
Stephen Hsu, MSU vice president for research and graduate studies, said the building represents MSU’s commitment to research in the biomedical sciences and its impact on human health in areas such as nanotechnology, robotics, tissue engineering and imaging. Greater Brookfield Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce recognizes local businesses for sustainable practices


The Fifth Annual Sustainable Brookfield Day was held on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 during the Chamber’s 57th Annual Meeting at Westmoor Country Club, Brookfield, Wis. The Chamber annually recognizes those companies that are engaged in sustainable business practices – from small businesses to large.
Carol White, President and CEO of the Chamber said, “This event annually recognizes those businesses that engage in sustainability daily. The annual meeting provided us with an ideal forum to recognize those companies.”
Businesses recognized this year were: AlphaGraphics, Brookfield; Oxi Fresh Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning, Port Washington; Green Design Center, Waukesha; and, Wisconsin Memorial Park, Brookfield.

Chamber vision: Greater Mankato Growth (Minnesota) hopes to nourish agricultural growth

Greater Mankato Growth hopes to turn the South Central Minnesota Agricultural Region into the nation's leading agricultural industry cluster. The Mankato-North Mankato metropolitan area already boasts an extensive list of agricultural production and agribusinesses. Eight of the top 10 soybean producing counties in the state are within the region's borders along with 120 food processors and manufacturers.Agriculture's influence isn't easily detected because of the way its economic impact is calculated, said Jonathan Zierdt, president and CEO of Greater Mankato Growth. Yet, looking beyond the numbers yields the fact that agriculture is the region's underlying foundation.
