What happens when a innovative chamber of commerce forges a private enterprise - higher education team? A collaborative partnership and a win-win proposition for both Benedictine University and the members of the Lisle Area Chamber of Commerce. I met with Tom Althoff, Lisle Area Chamber President/CEO to see what new ways chamber members get a great return on investment (ROI) with their annual memberships.
For 2014, the Lisle chamber has created a new opportunity for each chamber member to get a complete marketing plan through the Benedictine University MBA program. Students prepare a marketing plan for the individual business they are assigned. The students get an opportunity to have hands-on training in their field of study. Businesses get a customized marketing study done for their individual company by students extremely familiar with new branding concepts and technologies.
Prior to rolling this benefit out to their membership, the chamber created a test drive program giving the post-graduate students the opportunity to create a marketing plan for the Lisle Area Chamber of Commerce. The result was an exceptional 65 page report brimming with suggestions for the chamber, according to Tom Althoff. Considering the test drive a success, the chamber is now ready to offer this program as a free service to all of its membership in 2014.

Michigan Gov. Snyder to speak at Macomb Chamber Event
