El Dorado (Arkansas) Chamber Teams up to Speed Economic Development
Lori
Coke, Economic Development Project Manager of the El Dorado Chamber of
Commerce emailed to say things are moving along nicely in El Dorado with a big shout out to Bobby Edmonds. Here is her note:
Some
might think that, "when the cat is away, the mice will play."
But, the economic development division of the Chamber is busier than
ever.
I'm
not sure if Bobby Edmonds really understood what he was signing up
for when he agreed to serve as interim president and CEO; however,
I do know that I'm forever grateful that he did. He has been a
tremendous help on so many economic development projects. Having
worked with "The Judge" for many of the last 11 years, I already
knew he was a great man. After getting to work so closely with him
the last few months, I've come to know him as a great friend. So,
as a personal "shout out," thank you, Bobby.
This
brings us to the new president and CEO, Jeremy Stratton, who we
will welcome to the Chamber next week. What a great time it is to
come to El Dorado! There are so many great things going on in this community. Right now, we are working with several prospects for Union County.
These manufacturing projects have the potential to bring in more
than 600 new jobs. With the addition of several new retail stores
and restaurants, the Chamber continues to work with multiple
commercial prospects as well. And these are just new projects that
might locate here.
The
"home-run" is that several local industries are either planning
expansions or are well into their expansions, including Lion Oil,
Great Lakes Solutions, Clean Harbors, Martin Operating Partnership
and El Dorado Chemical, to name a few. Between these companies,
approximately $1.1 billion in capital investment is planned or
underway. Their investment will add approximately 345 new jobs to
our community. And this list is not all-inclusive! There is more
activity in economic development locally, than has been seen in
years. That is very good news we can all smile about.
