Five Star Accreditation and New Brand for Hampton Roads Chamber
Norfolk, VA –“The
5-Star accreditation designation is the most prestigious designation awarded by
the U.S. Chamber of Commerce” said Pamela Gregory, a representative of the U.S.
Chamber of Commerce, as she presented the accreditation plaque to Bryan K.
Stephens, President and CEO of the Hampton Roads Chamber during the Chamber’s
Annual Meeting on December 8th. “You should be immensely proud
of your Hampton Roads Chamber,” said Gregory, “only one percent of chambers in
the country currently hold a 5-star accreditation.”
The accreditation presentation was just one of many highlights of the 32nd Annual Meeting held at the Virginia Beach Convention Center. President and CEO of The Hampton Roads Chamber, Bryan K. Stephens, kicked off the event with a state of the chamber report, as he outlined the achievements of 2016 and discussed the way ahead for 2017. Notably, Stephens unveiled the new brand identity of the Chamber. As of now the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce is simply, the Hampton Roads Chamber. A bold new logo design and a new tag line “Means Business” form the cornerstone of the new brand. Stephens explained the three overarching goals of the Hampton Roads Chamber: becoming a impactful advocate by consistently and effectively leading the efforts to shape public policy and influence legislation that set the conditions for businesses to succeed, becoming a powerful economic partner by developing, diversifying and improving both the economy and quality of life in the region, and becoming an inspiring ignitor by promoting the important of regionalism and the power of collective impact.

On November 30, Champaign County First, a public/private partnership made up of private business leaders, community stakeholders and local government entities went to Springfield on an annual lobbying trip. The group's focus is to advocate for transportation, infrastructure and economic development for all of Champaign County.
The trip was successful in sharing Champaign County First's priority projects with the Deputy Secretary of the Illinois Department of Transportation Rich Brauer. The Illinois Department of Natural Resources discussed recreation projects along with available grants for restoration and bike paths. The last meeting in the morning had the group meet with Acting Director of the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity Sean McCarthy about economic development including EDGE Tax Credits, Enterprise Zones and workforce development.
In the afternoon the delegation held meetings with elected state officials to discuss priorities and the current aspects of state government. Representatives Adam Brown, Chad Hays and Bill Mitchell took time out of their session schedule to meet with Champaign County First delegates. Senators Scott Bennett and Chapin Rose made an official announcement on the Senate floor about Champaign County First and then met with delegates outside the Senate Chamber doors.
In all, Champaign County First was able to advocate for all of Champaign County as a united front to directors of government agencies and elected officials. The trip supplements the Washington DC trip to bring Champaign County First's advocacy to all our officials in Washington and Springfield. More information: Garret Hill <info@champaigncounty.com>

Fox Cities Chamber president named new president of TwinWest Chamber in Plymouth, MN
Shannon Full submitted her resignation as president and chief executive officer of the Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce. She will remain in the position through the end of the year.
Full was named the new president of TwinWest Chamber of Commerce in Plymouth, Minnesota, and will start in February. It marks her return to the Twin Cities where she began her career at the Twin Cities North Chamber of Commerce in Mounds View, Minnesota.
“While it has been so fulfilling, both personally and professionally, to live and work in the Fox Cities for the last six years, this move is the right decision for my family," she said in a prepared release Thursday morning.
Full has held the chamber's top position here for those six years.
Daniel Ferris, chairman of the chamber's board of directors, said a search committee will be formed to find Full’s successor, and that she will aid in the transition.
“Shannon has been a wonderful asset to our organization for the last six years and we thank her for her leadership and dedication,” he said in an email to chamber members Thursday.
In her release, Full said, "I'm very proud of the work that the Fox Cities Chamber and the Fox Cities Regional Partnership have done and I'm honored to have been a leader in that work."
In recent years, the chamber formed the Fox Cities Regional Partnership and launched the Talent Upload program, which seeks to attract and retain young professionals in the Fox Cities. Read more: Post-Crescent
Greensburg, IN: A place to live, a place to work, a place to play
Videos, new websites to help drive community development
GREENSBURG – The many considerable charms of the Tree City are a beloved known quantity to Decatur County denizens, but a one-of-a kind video project and forthcoming website initiative created by the local Chamber of Commerce and several area organizations, hope to spread the message that Greensburg is a special place for visitors and longtime residents alike.
A “teaser” video created by the Greensburg-Decatur County Chamber of Commerce and an accomplished videographer and drone pilot exploded in popularity over the weekend and was shared upwards of a thousand times on Facebook alone.
But Chamber executive director Jeff Emsweller said the preview clip, which debuted at the Chamber’s annual banquet last month, is only a sneak peek with much more to come. And the beneficiaries of the year’s-worth of work will be families, students, businesses, and virtually all Tree County residents – current and future.
Bird’s-eye view
The happy hullabaloo comes from the publication of a video trailer created by the Chamber, videographer Matt Patton and CrossPointe Studios. Patton piloted drones equipped with state-of-the art cameras to capture sporting events, interesting local locales, and festivities in the summer in an effort to highlight all of that as well as shine a spotlight on the Tree County.
The high definition video provides flyover footage of Decatur County landmarks such as the Blue Bridge and the courthouse’s signature tower tree in eye-popping color and detail. Local school sports teams and events such as August’s “On Eagle’s Wings 5K” are part of the short highlight reel.
In just under three minutes, the video showcases Greensburg, Westport and other areas of the county in a splendor that likely can only be matched by seeing it all in person. Read more: Greensburg Daily news
