The Role:
The President is the Chief Executive Officer. S/he provides leadership by working with the Board of Directors to set the strategic vision for the organization. S/he is responsible for establishing and achieving measurable strategic goals and objectives. The President must demonstrate the capability to fulfill the organization's mission, develop a measurable strategic plan, represent the organization externally by building productive relationships with local and regional policy makers, manage Board and staff relations, and develop/oversee fundraising. The President should have the demonstrated ability to oversee the organization's operations to ensure efficiency, quality, and cost-effective management of resources. The President/CEO reports to a Board of Directors; s/he manages and leads a staff of 3.5 professionals.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in relevant field – business management, marketing/communications, policy, public affairs, government relations.
  • Proven track record in development/fundraising for community- and/or business-specific nonprofit/trade organizations.
  • Proven experience and ability to work effectively with public policy makers and influential business/community leaders.
  • Success in managing staff and effectively working with a Board of Directors.
  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years of organizational experience with at least five spent as a member of a senior leadership team.
Specifically, S/he will be responsible for excellence in the following areas:
  • Board Governance:
The President/CEO works with the Chairman to prepare Board agendas, maintains Board minutes and records, implement plans and programs of the Board in accordance with established policies. The President/CEO monitors the status of strategies and goals developed at an annual Board planning session and reports to the Board.
  • Financial Oversight:
The President/CEO is responsible for implementing the annual budget as approved by the Board of Directors and is responsible for the proper accounting of all income and expenditures. With the Treasurer, the President/CEO prepares monthly financial statements for the Board.
  • Long-Range Planning:
The President/CEO is responsible for maintaining continuity and consistency in programming and working with the Board of Directors to prepare and implement long-range goals. 
  • Membership:
The President/CEO works with the membership committee to achieve new member and retention goals established by the Board of Directors.
  • Communications:
The President/CEO is responsible for both internal and external communications, which includes timely maintenance of website content, weekly member emails, surveys, press releases, newsletter and relationships with media partners, as well as social media acumen.
  • Advocacy:
The President/CEO is responsible for the advocacy of the Chamber’s public policy positions.
  • Event Programming:
The President/CEO works with program committees to ensure that Chamber events are planned to meet member needs. Chamber events will optimize networking, educational and community opportunities.
  • Office and Administration Staff Management:
The President/CEO is responsible for the location and maintenance of the office and will ensure an efficient operation that is clean and attractive for Chamber members, the community, and visitors. The President/CEO is responsible for the employment of all staff, assignment of duties, and supervision of work, and ensures that staff assignments are aligned with the yearly goals and objectives established by the Board of Directors.
  • INCspire (Foundation):
The President serves as the President/Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation responsible for administration and management of the affairs of the Foundation in accordance with the provisions of the Foundation’s Articles of Incorporation, Bylaws, policies and direction of the Board, and applicable law. Specific authority and responsibilities include the operation of the Foundation offices, the employment and supervision of sufficient staff/consultants to properly conduct the business of the Foundation, the adjustment of staff compensation within the limits of the budget as approved by the GRCC Board of Directors. Directly responsible to the Board of Directors of the Foundation and the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce.

Duties

· Maintain a high profile in the business community

Description: The Clarkston Area Chamber of Commerce’s Membership Development Specialist is primarily responsible for retaining and growing the Chamber’s membership base. The goal of this employee is to understand a member company’s needs related to chamber involvement so that they can gain the most value in membership and in turn, renew their annual membership and sponsor/participate in more events.

  • Schedule meetings with current members to better understand their goals and expectations in membership

Work Environment
The Manistee Area Chamber of Commerce offers an office setting. The role of the Economic
Development Director requires site visitations which may include office, factory, store, agriculture,

INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION:
This internship involves product sales support for Greater Louisville Inc. (The Chamber of Commerce for Greater Louisville). Over ten weeks, you will develop an understanding of the functions and services of a chamber of commerce, the logistics of non-dues revenue, and the structured approach to sales and follow up for product activation.
ORGANIZATION:
Greater Louisville Inc. (GLI) is the chamber of commerce representing five counties in Indiana and ten counties in Kentucky. Services provided by GLI can be defined in three main categories:
  • Chamber of Commerce: GLI is made up of approximately 1,600 investor businesses who contribute investment dollars and time for shared services such as corporate connections / introductions, ribbon cuttings, education, and corporate events.
  • Advocacy: GLI listens to its investors and their concerns with regard to legislation and advocates for those interests in Frankfort, KY, Indianapolis, IN, Louisville Metro, and Washington D.C.
