Catholic Business Network to Honor Chamber CEOs Mark Ingrao, John Boylan, Debbie Jones, Jim Corcoran and Tony Howard
June 8 | Hyatt Regency Dulles

The Catholic Business Network (CBN) is honoring five Catholic Chief Executive Officers of Northern Virginia's largest Chambers of Commerce, Friday, June 8th at Hyatt Regency Dulles, 2300 Dulles Corner Blvd, Herndon 20171. Those attending will enjoy networking, a plated lunch, panel discussion and a brief awards program. The five CEOs being honored are Mark Ingrao, President & CEO Reston Chamber; John Boylan, President & CEO of the Dulles Chamber; Debbie Jones, President & CEO of the Prince William Chamber; Jim Corcoran, President & CEO of the Northern Virginia Chamber; and Tony Howard, President & CEO of the Loudoun Chamber.

The luncheon will include an informal conversation among these five chamber leaders about their roles at the chamber each leads, the competitive and cooperative nature of the chambers and the roles each plays in our local and state governmental and economic policies. Bruce Gemmill of John Marshall Bank, states "CBN will recognize Tony, John, Jim, Debbie, and Mark with awards for the unselfish leadership each brings to their respective chambers. Every day, these CEOs instill in their staffs the importance all members bring to the chamber. They and their staffs go out of their way to bring value to each member, and they hold events to thank and award member individuals and businesses for their contributions to the chamber, business, and community. The Catholic Business Network felt it was important to turn the tables and give the proper recognition these five deserve."

Business Breakfast Bytes, from the Fox Cities Chamber, will focus on deconstructing data from a business perspective in May

The Fox Cities Chamber’s monthly educational program, Business Breakfast Bytes, will focus on the topic of deconstructing data from a business perspective in its upcoming morning session on Tuesday, May 15 at the Hilton Garden Inn located in Kimberly.
Join Sara Martin, Marketing Consultant at Blue Door Consulting, as she leads the session along with
Mia Beltran, Brand Manager at Fox World Travel. The presentation will assist participants by breaking down the intimidation factor surrounding data and will show that data is important, informative, accessible and even fun.

One should attend this presentation if they want to learn about what constitutes as data, where data can be found with the resources they already have (social media, websites, daily customer transactions, etc.), ways to analyze the data collected and ways to use the analyzed data to make informed business decisions.

"Data is key to improving our businesses. All too often we see businesses get stuck in not knowing where to find it or what actions to take with the data they have. I’m looking forward to breaking down that barrier by using actual business problems we see every day and helping understand how to use data to solve them," shared session facilitator Sara Martin.

Business Breakfast Bytes are a monthly business educational program focused on providing small to mid-sized business members across the Fox Cities Region with education and resources addressing top business concerns.

Registration for each individual session is required. Space is limited, so be sure to register soon. Fox Cities Chamber members are allowed to bring a guest and may use the registration link on the Chamber website or call (920) 734-7101 to register. Duke Energy opens solar power farms near Walton

More than 60 football fields worth of new solar panels are generating electricity today in Northern Kentucky.
Duke Energy unveiled its new solar energy farm in Walton Tuesday. Duke put 17,024 solar panels on 60 acres at 352 York Road in southern Kenton County. The new power plant is off U.S. 25 just south of the city of Walton in Boone County.
An 11,500-solar-panel farm owned by Duke has also been opened at 922 Ruark Road south of Crittenden in Grant County. The Walton and Crittenden solar power farms started producing electricity for the grid Dec. 14, 2017.
The solar farms in Kenton and Grant counties make enough electricity to power about 1,500 homes year-round, said Chuck Session, Duke's vice president for government and community affairs in Kentucky. Session lives in Union.
Duke's Walton solar farms, on separate strips of land, are the largest in Northern Kentucky and among the largest in Kentucky.
The Walton and Crittenden solar farms cost $14.8 million to build, according to the Kentucky Public Service Commission.
Duke, the largest electric power holding company in the U.S., has about 140,000 electric customers in Boone, Campbell, Kenton, Gallatin, Grant and Pendleton counties.
The solar panels have a useful life of at least 20 years before they need replacing.
Duke hopes to add more solar in Northern Kentucky eventually, said Lee Freedman, a corporate spokesman.
"Right now we have a 650-megawatt facility in Rabbit Hash at our East Bend plant that is coal-fired," he said.
Duke's Kentucky customers also receive power from a 400-megawatt, gas-fired power plant in Trenton, Ohio, Session said.
Access to cheaper energy has attracted businesses to the region for decades, said Brent Cooper, president and CEO of Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce.
Businesses considering locating here ask about energy prices and how it is generated, Cooper said.
"Now we can also say we're transitioning to cleaner energy over time," he said. Read more: Cincinatti.com
