Happy New Year from your friends at the Chamber.

2016 promises to be an exciting year, one filled with expectations of an improving economy and continued job growth in America. It also can signal change and for us that is the case.

As of Monday, January 4, the chamber has relocated to the campus of Saint Xavier University, Orland Park. We are now operating out of the administrative center on the campus located at 18230 Orland Parkway, Orland Park, Il. We will share space with the administration and faculty on the South campus that includes the Graham School of Management.

This strategic decision evolved out of months of discussions and evaluation by both organizations. Ultimately we both feel that our individual missions will be enhanced through this unique partnership.
The Chamber will continue to serve the entire five county region as we have in the past while hoping to enhance our capacity for offering more in house training and events.

Thanks to everyone that has helped us make this transition. As with any move, there are bound to be a few unexpected bumps but so far we are doing well. A special thanks goes out to Lorenz Appliances for their assistance in the move. They were great as were the many other volunteers that helped.

We are looking forward to another great year. Please consider joining us at our Annual Dinner on January 28th.

As always, I appreciate your thoughts and opinions. Please feel free to contact me at any time, david@chicagosouthlandchamber.com.

Prince William, Greater Reston, Loudoun County and Arlington Chambers of Commerce Collaborate to produce Northern Virginia Restaurant Week in Partnership with the Virginia Restaurant, Lodging & Travel Association

Placing the Needs of Local Northern Virginia Restaurants and Hotels First

Manassas, VA – Starting in 2016, the Prince William, Greater Reston, Loudoun County and Arlington Chambers of Commerce are collaborating to produce the 3rd Annual Northern Virginia Restaurant Week! Virginia Restaurant, Lodging and Travel Association (VRLTA) will partner on this event for the second year in a row to put together one of the largest dining out celebrations in Northern Virginia. Running March 7-14, the 3rd Annual Northern Virginia Restaurant Week will be a week-long, value priced dining experience taking place at a variety of establishments from fine dining to fast casual. The goal of this event is to enhance the vibrant restaurant and hotel scene in Northern Virginia.

“The Prince William Chamber of Commerce is excited about this partnership,” says Debbie Jones, President & CEO of the Prince William Chamber. “Not only does Northern Virginia Restaurant week provide an opportunity to showcase our local restaurants on a regional stage, but I believe the partnership makes restaurant week stronger. Many of Northern Virginia’s workers live right here in Prince William County and the Cities of Manassas and Manassas Park. So whether it is lunch or dinner time, the people living in our community will have the chance to try something new at a great price.”

This year, Northern Virginia Restaurant Week will again be working with OpenTable to provide participating foodies a chance to make stress-free reservations.

“We are looking forward to collaborating with three other Chambers on Northern Virginia Restaurant Week,” said Kate Roche, President & CEO of the Arlington Chamber of Commerce. “Participating in this event is just one of the many ways that Chamber involvement adds value for the restaurants and hotels in our region.”

“The Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to placing the needs of the Northern Virginia hospitality and restaurant community first. Collaborating with the Prince William, Loudoun and Arlington County Chambers and continuing our partnership with VRLTA will bring more business to the Northern Virginia area during an ordinarily slow time for the restaurant and hospitality industry. The Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce is looking forward to working with fellow Chambers to promote business development and marketing exposure,” states Mark Ingrao, CCP, CAE, President and CEO of the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce.

Restaurants and hotels are encouraged to register for this dining out celebration prior to February 2, 2016 to be included in all advertising and promotional materials! The partnering organizations will continue to accept registration forms until February 23, 2016.

Midland's Chamber Bobby Burns: Numbers indicate Midland’s business climate brings ‘unparalleled opportunity’

Our “soft” economy in 2016 may be one of the best ever. It all depends on how you look at the numbers. A quick look comparing our economic indicators of 2015 to 2014 has made many Midlanders nervous. While these numbers do show a decline from one year to the next, it’s important to put this into context.

In almost every way imaginable, 2014 was an anomaly -- from a massive population influx to record-low unemployment numbers, record-high sales taxes and much more. Any year against a year like that would suffer by comparison. However, when you compare 2015 to the two previous years, 2012 and 2013, this most recent year fares very well. Boone County chamber breakfast: State legislators visit with voters at Witham

Nearly 50 residents came to hear what Boone County's state legislators are working on for this year's short session of the Indiana General Assembly.

The Boone County Chamber of Commerce sponsored its annual Legislative Breakfast Saturday at Witham Memorial Hospital, giving local residents an opportunity to talk with their elected representatives and senators who serve at the Indiana Statehouse.

The event included Sen. Phil Boots (R-Dist. 23), Rep. Dr. Tim Brown (R-Dist. 41), Rep. Jeff Thompson (Dist. 28) and Rep. Donna Schaibley (Dist. 24).

The two-hour event started with each state official given a chance to share information on the session, which started last week, and any bills they are authoring.

“Highway funding is a big deal for locals,” Boots said. “Sen. (Brandt) Hershman, who couldn’t be here today, is working on a bill that will release income tax for locals to collect. The state keeps $438 million in reserve and this will be a one-time deal to release some of that money. We are still working on a long-term funding opportunity.” Read more: Reporter.net
