Nailing down Emporia's brand

Emporia is branding itself. The Emporia Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau met Monday morning to hear a visitor profile presentation from PROOF Inc. Over the last several months, a variety of organizations such as Kansas Main Street and Emporia State distributed online surveys to Kansans and Midwesterners to find out what attracts or doesn’t attract visitors to Emporia. About 1500 people completed the survey, one of the largest samples the company has worked with. Read more: Emporia Gazette


Conway Arkansas's fast-growing population fueled by strong economy

A fast-growing population and strong economy have long been characteristics of Conway, Arkansas. Recent reports from the U.S. Census Bureau and POLICOM, an organization that studies the dynamics of local economies, support these attributes of the city of 60,000.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Conway is the fastest-growing big city in Arkansas. The Census defines big cities as having a population of 50,000 or more. Brad Lacy, president and CEO of the Conway Area Chamber of Commerce, said this growth is driven by a strong economy. Read more: Log Cabin Democrat

#Best Chamber Creativity: Michigan Proposal 1 Campaign Announcement

Grand Rapids Area Chamber member company Constructive Sheet Metal, co-owner Tab DeJonge and Chamber President & CEO Rick Baker joined other Proposal 1 supporters to launch an online contest to find the oldest piece of equipment still being taxed – a tax that will be eliminated with a YES vote August  5.

Lt. Governor recaps session during Stillwater Chamber Visit

Lt. Gov. Todd Lamb updated the Stillwater Chamber of Commerce Friday about what happened during the 2014 Oklahoma legislative session.

He said in spite of a budget reduced by $102 million, lawmakers found $200 million in additional funding for K-12 education and  passed a $120 million bond issue to make repairs to the state Capitol. Read more: Stillwater News Press

Perryville (Missouri) Chamber Sunday Summer Gazebo Concert Series

After a bitter cold winter, summer has finally returned to the region, and so has the Perryville Area Chamber of Commerce’s Outdoor Concert Series.
The free musical events are held the fourth Sunday of every month at the gazebo on the downtown square in Perryville. This month’s show will be held June 22, from 5-7 p.m. 
“We have some new entertainment lined up for this year, as well as a few favorites,” said Melissa Hemmann, executive director of the Perryville Area Chamber of Commerce. Read more: Perryville News
