Aurora Regional Chamber named 2020 IACCE Chamber of the Year in the large Chamber Group

The
Aurora Regional Chamber of Commerce, the voice of and catalyst for business success in the Aurora region, has been named the 2020 Outstanding Chamber of the Year in the large chamber category by the Illinois Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (IACCE).

The IACCE Outstanding Chamber of the Year Award recognizes organization excellence in chambers of commerce and provides a unique benchmarking opportunity to assess a chamber’s strengths. The award is based on the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s accreditation process for local chambers and highlights accomplishments in the areas of leadership, governance, finance, advocacy and membership development.

"Under the leadership of president & CEO Jessica Linder Gallo, the Aurora Regional Chamber of Commerce has thrived, showing that commitment to membership and strong leadership can grow an organization and positively impact its community,” said Ginny Glasner, ACE, 2020 IACCE Chairman of the Board and President & CEO of the Highland Park Chamber of Commerce. “Through a collaborative approach, the organization has implemented notable programs, including a corporate rebrand, launch of several digital initiatives (i.e., blogs, video blogs, soon-to-launch website redesign, etc.), an implications to employers webinar series, several COVID-19 survey reports, and a series of industry roundtables to discuss the impacts of the pandemic in each industry. They have successfully established partnerships, especially their education-workforce collaboration, and continue to develop and model best practices in the chamber industry as evidenced by their continued U.S. Chamber accreditation status that can be replicated around the state.”

This is a huge honor and one for which I am immensely proud. Recognition from IACCE as the 2020 Outstanding Chamber of the Year reinforces our corporate values to always innovate and make big impacts, "said Jessica Linder Gallo, president & CEO. “As the convener of leaders and influencers and the voice of business success, it is our role to lead the business community even in the toughest of times. As we always have, we will continue to rise to any challenge for the good of the Aurora region.”

“Even in the midst of a global pandemic, the Aurora Regional Chamber has performed at an exceptional level and continues to be bold in its vision, strategic plan and leadership,” said Marisa Medgyesi, Earthmover Credit Union & Aurora Regional Chamber Board of Directors Chairperson. “This award recognizes the dedication and hard work put forth by Jessica Linder Gallo and her team to be the unifying force in the Aurora business community.”

The recognition caps off a broader period of innovation and business advocacy for the Aurora Regional Chamber of Commerce. This year, the Aurora Regional Chamber launched a new brand and enhanced member tools that bring added functionality aimed at greatly improving access to and visibility of members. The Chamber also released two COVID-19 survey finding reports: the COVID-19 Business Implications Survey Report which built upon the findings from the first survey report, the Business Impact of COVID-19 report, brought to you by Waubonsee Community College. That report analyzed the data from 524 responses from businesses of all sizes, operation tenure and across all industry sectors on challenges they faced as they looked to reopen and operate in the age of COVID-19.

#SmartChamber: Joliet Chamber Puts Building Up For Sale

The Joliet Chamber of Commerce has been a fixture on North Chicago Street for a number of years, but change is in the air. Joliet Chamber President Jen Howard informed Joliet Patch's editor that her Chamber building, 63 North Chicago St. is now officially for sale.

Prominent Joliet real estate agent Mark Koenig is marketing the downtown Joliet property. The Joliet Chamber building features six individual offices, a kitchen, two conference rooms, three bathrooms, a reception area and a four-car heated garage in the back of the building. There is also access to a couple additional parking spaces toward the back, Howard said.

The Chamber's asking price is $325,000, Howard said. The brick building encompasses 5,500 square feet, Howard said.

"We just do not need all the space because we had a downsize of our staff," Howard said. "Unfortunately, we had to make some layoffs because of COVID-19."

The Joliet Chamber intends to find other office space to lease in the downtown, preferably in the area of Chicago Street or along Van Buren Street, Howard said.

Howard said the Joliet Chamber would be ideal for a large Cook County or Du Page County law firm looking to expand because of the opening of the new $215 million Will County Courthouse. The 10-floor glass building will open for court activities next week. Source: Patch

Elkhorn Area Chamber collaboration: New drive-through holiday event set for Walworth County fairgrounds

The Elkhorn Area Chamber of Commerce, United Way of Walworth County and the Walworth County Food and Diaper Bank have embarked on a countywide mission to ignite the magic of the upcoming holiday season.

Let It Glow, a half-mile drive-through festival of lights, will be Dec. 4, from 7 to 9 p.m., at the Walworth County Fairgrounds, 411 E. Court St., Elkhorn.

Over 20 whimsical holiday stations will be part of the event. There will also be a Santa Station, where children can wave to the jolly man in red and hand their letters to one of Santa’s elves to be taken straight to the North Pole.

The Covid-19 pandemic has cast uncertainty over how the holidays will look this year.

Tammy Dunn, executive director for the United Way of Walworth County, said she was approached with the event idea by Maryann Zimmerman, general manager of the Walworth County Food and Diaper Bank.

“For years, I imagined a lighted drive-through festival at the fairgrounds, and this seemed the perfect time to join forces,” said Dunn. “Let It Glow will be a real win for all of Walworth County, including the performers, area nonprofits, the business community and our families.”

Chris Clapper, executive director for the Elkhorn Area Chamber of Commerce, said the fairgrounds will be the perfect venue for the event.

While it is intended to become a tradition for Walworth County families, there is the hope that others become involved.

“While our committee can administrate the event, we need help breathing life into the animation of Let It Glow,” Clapper said.

Let It Glow organizers have several ways for others to become involved.

Businesses can choose from five sponsorship levels, and families can sponsor and decorate a Glow Tree to be displayed along Balsam Boulevard.

Groups can sign up to build a display or entertain the audience with one of 20-plus Glow Station stops along the route, and volunteers can sign up to help behind the scenes.

The event follows the Elkhorn Chamber’s Annual Tree Lighting on the Square.

There will be no cost to drive through the park.

More information can be found on the Facebook event page, or by calling the Elkhorn Chamber at 262-723-5788, United Way at 262-374-4474 or Walworth County Food Pantry at 262-723-4488.
